Our History
The Metropolitan Society was created in 1994 to celebrate and promote the responsible use of fine cigars, food, wine and spirits and, most of all, the good fellowship among our many members. Today, the club is the nation’s oldest non-commercial establishment of its kind. Metropolitan Society members regularly savor the elegant surroundings of their luxurious 4200 square foot domain, where they relax free from the intolerance and shrill of the anti-smoking crowd while fostering the camaraderie of others who share their enthusiasm for fine cigars.
Club Details
Our three primary rooms provide members and their guests with a comfortable atmosphere that not only allows but encourages one to enjoy a cigar. Throughout the club you will find plenty of oversized leather chairs whether it's The Lounge, where members relax over conversation, watch their favorite program or sporting event on one of the two 65" LCD TVs or The Quiet Room, where a member can entertain a client, read a book or just catch up on some work. The Game Room features two more 65" LCD TVs and is the place for friendly challenges to include games of poker, dominoes, chess or darts. La Cubana Room is our most versatile room. In its daily function it provides additional lounge seating as well as three 48" tables that can easily be used as a workstation or to hold a meeting. This room can also be converted to a banquet hall with seating capacity up to 80 people, which is used for club events where members can enjoy a cigar dinner with great food along with presenters from major cigar and beverage brands who join us to offer samples of the “good life.” This room is also available to be rented for private events. Choose your favorite room or frequent them all, The Metropolitan Society is the place to meet.
Locker Room
Our Locker Room / walk-in humidor, while located in the center of our building, is nevertheless the Society’s cornerstone. You enter through a magnificent stained-glass door. The room houses 190 lockers that feature custom made oak doors with individually keyed locks. This room is kept at a constant 70 degrees Fahrenheit with a humidity level of 70 percent. Incidentally, because of its sealed construction, this is the only room in our building where smoking is prohibited.
